MONSTER ENERGY AND VAUGHN GITTIN JR. PRESENT 1 OF 1 2014 FORD MUSTANG RTR SPEC 2 TO ANDREW KELLER UNITED STATES COAST GUARD WHO WON THE EXCLUSIVE COMMISSARY GIVEAWAY FOR ACTIVE, RESERVE AND RETIRED U.S. MILITARY PERSONNEL

CORONA, Calif. – December 19, 2013 – Monster Energy along with one of drifting’s most iconic figures Vaughn Gittin Jr. presented a customVaughn Gittin Jr. 1 of 1 2014 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 car to the lucky winner Andrew Keller, fireman for the United States Coast Guard based in Charleston, South Carolina who entered the contest at the Commissary on Naval Weapons Station Joint Base, Charleston, ironically after he had been in an auto accident where another driver totaled his previous car.

Originally from New Castle, PA Keller currently works in the engineering department on a high endurance cutter for drug interdiction patrols.

“I entered the contest the week after I got in a bad car accident,” said Keller.  “When I got the email and saw that I had actually won I was blown away and extremely happy.”  “I would like to thank Monster for the opportunity.”

Monster Energy, Ford and champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr., creator of Mustang RTR teamed up to present an exclusive sweepstakes commissary giveaway for active, reserve and retired military personnel as a thank you to present an opportunity for one lucky winner to win a 1 of 1 2014 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 and 20 additional winners to receive a Jr. HPI RC car.  The HPI RC car is a replica of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s car and one of the easiest-to-drive drift RC cars in the market.

“I am so pumped to be partnered up with Monster Energy and Ford whom selflessly give back and enabled me to be a part of this program, said Vaughn Gittin Jr.  “The look on Andrews face and his overall excitement shown through his shaking body when I handed him the keys made all the effort worth it.”

“Monster wanted to present an exclusive opportunity to military personnel as a thank you for all the military does for our country, said Darlene Barrett, Monster Energy Vice President of Military Sales Worldwide.  “We know these men and women put their lives on the line everyday to protect us and wanted to present this unique sweepstakes to show our support for what they do.”

Performance Autosport and Mustang RTR Dominate March Madness Posted on 01 Apr 11:25 , 0 comments

After a very humbling start to the season the entire PAS Racing crew knew we had some homework to do and needed to come back strong in March to prove we were going to put this car back out front. Between the damage we sustained and the ABS issue that we were scratching our heads on, the month between the Feb and March event flew by extremely fast.

The next thing we knew it was a few days away from the event and we were running out of time. While at the body shop we took this time to convert the car form it’s original 2011 body work to the more updated 2013 body and we think it turned out absolutely great. We have a full livery planned for this and will be debuting it in a few weeks, so the look for this race was 100% temporary to carry us through the weekend.

Time was tight for what we needed to get done between events and without nailing down the fix for sure on the ABS we decided to go the safe route and installed a strut style Cortex Precision Racing Technology Xtreme-Grip Track front end. With putting the stock engine cradle back in the car we returned the front hubs and ABS system back to stock and it worked perfectly. The custom JRi double adjustable front shocks performed great and complimented the CorteX Watts link out back very well.

When we arrived on Friday we wanted to shake the car out for some test laps since we just had replaced the entire front suspension and still needed to test the ABS system at speed. Everything worked out great and every little change we made to the car made it go faster. So fast in fact that during our last test session driver Chris Cobetto clicked off a 2:05.347, the fastest this car has ever lapped around VIR! The car was happy and we were really looking forward to a full weekend of racing.

Saturday morning was cold, but dry. The track was fast and packed with cars for qualifying. Without getting a full clear lap we qualified 2nd behind Steven Kent. As the green dropped the Thunder group got bunched up with an AI-X car getting a wild ride through the grass. This race proved to be an exciting one with the front 3 cars going nose to tail down the front stretch drafting going into turn 1.

Sunday was a flash back from the February event with weather starting with rain, then sleet, then snow, and back to a mix of all 3 every few minutes. It was absolutely freezing…literally..and the track conditions were horrible. The goal was to stay on track and during qualifying we managed another 2nd place starting position behind Steven Kent. The race was actually quite close as Steven Kent was driving absolutely amazingly in the rain staying out front for many laps until getting into a big slide going up the uphill esses allowing Cobetto to get a run on him going down the back stretch. From there Cobetto stayed out front for the remainder of the race clinching our 2nd win of the weekend!

Huge thanks to Filip at CorteX Precision Racing Technology who scrambled all month long to make sure we got what we needed to get back on track and put the PAS Mustang RTR back up front. And the work isn't done just yet. The ABS fix is IN and the SLA front suspension will be going back on the car for April at Summit Point which we are really looking forward to. The tight and more technical Summit Point will be a great test for the new suspension.

Thanks,
-kevin@pas

BIG NEWS FOR MUSTANG RTR!! ANNOUNCING MUSTANG RTR DRIFT TEAM Posted on 26 Mar 14:40 , 0 comments

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 26, 2013) – Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. is excited to announce the formation of the RTR Drift Team, their tentative 2013 worldwide schedule, and the reveal of his Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR livery. This year marks the beginning of a new era for Vaughn coming into his tenth season of professional drifting with the formation of the RTR Drift Team. He is focused on his duties as RTR Team owner and driver, and is also taking full advantage of the freedoms that come along with being a team owner – as portrayed by his unique new livery. Check out the official VIDEO revealing the Monster Energy Nitto Tire 2014 Ford Mustang RTR. "I'm really pumped on this years' livery and overall aesthetics surrounding our efforts," says Vaughn. "For the first time in my career, I have been able to start from a clean slate and get a bit crazy with the look of my car that I will be using for battle. Being that the Mustang is my weapon of choice out there on the track, the base of the livery was inspired from old battle ships that were covered with 'dazzle camo'. From there, we added my XX5 (#25) logo and flag elements, along with some of my favorite colors and a little rock n' roll to get a livery that I feel really portrays me. I look forward to giving it some real battle scars!"

Vaughn will be piloting a brand new 2014 Ford Mustang RTR built by Autosport Dynamics and will make its first competition debut at Formula Drift Round 1 in Long Beach, California April 12-13. Having worked side by side with Vaughn since 2007, ASD will supply their valued support yet again for the 2013 season. Combining the superior knowledge and car building skills of the ASD crew, with the proven driving ability and aggressiveness behind the wheel of 2010 Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr., there is no doubt that the RTR Drift Team will be a serious force on the track. Check out the DETAILED SPECS of the Monster Energy Nitto Tire 2014 Ford Mustang RTR.

“I couldn’t be happier to continue working with the team at ASD,” says Vaughn. “We have had great success over the past 5 years together and the word ‘team’ as I know it has been redefined around our new focused effort.  ”

While Vaughn’s number one priority is to chase down the Formula Drift Championship, he will also be taking his global efforts to the next level in 2013. Vaughn will once again head to China to compete in the World Drift Series, as well as participate in select competition and demonstration events in Europe. Just as years past, Vaughn will continue to perform at select demo and experiential events in the USA. Thanks to Monster Energy and Ford Motor Company, this year he will be heading to select military bases surrounding the Formula Drift Championship on Sundays after competition, to provide demos and ride-alongs for some of America’s finest men and women. See the 2013 TENTATIVE SCHEDULE.

“It is really crazy for me to look at my schedule for this year and realize all of the awesome that is about to go down all over the world behind the wheel of some badass Ford Mustangs,” adds Vaughn. “While I am pumped on all of the events we have chosen to participate in this year, I am especially excited about the opportunity to go visit some military bases and put smiles on the men and women’s faces that make me living my dream possible!”

ABOUT VAUGHN GITTIN JR.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. has become one of drifting's most iconic figures and is known best by his aggressive, foot to the floor, big smoke driving style. In 2007, he brought America the gold once more by winning the D1GP World Championship.

In 2010, Vaughn earned his first Formula Drift Championship, becoming the second-ever Champion with a strictly-drifting background. In 2011, Vaughn competed in China's premier drift series, WDS, and took home the Championship. In 2012, Vaughn was shy just one spot of the Championship, taking second place overall. Mustang RTR and Mothers Team Up To Build Mothers Ford Mustang RTR Spec 3 Posted on 06 Nov 15:07 , 0 comments

WIXOM, Mi. (October 30, 2012) – The Mothers Ford Mustang RTR Spec 3 is a collaboration between Mustang RTR and the team at Mothers Polishes-Waxes-Cleaners. This highly anticipated project made its grand debut at the SEMA Show 2012 at the Ford display in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Mothers RTR Spec 3 will have the opportunity to showcase its performance capabilities at the OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational on the Saturday following SEMA, with Mothers’ Vice President Jim Holloway at the wheel.

Based on the Mustang RTR Spec 3 that will officially launch in the first quarter 2014, the Mothers Mustang RTR Spec 3 will showcase the latest aftermarket technology in chassis and engine development, composites, aerodynamics, paint, and audio – coupled with streetability and track-proven performance. The build of the project is a true team effort between RTR, the Mothers team, and some of the best product manufacturers in the business. “We are pumped to have teamed up with the crew at Mothers to give the world a taste of whats to come with the Mustang RTR Spec 3 on and off the track before it becomes available to the public,” says Vaughn Gittin Jr., founder of RTR. “Given Mothers’ deep history and experience in this world, we are flattered that after the fun they had touring the 2013 Mustang RTR Spec 2 all year, they wanted to partner up for the Spec 3 project.”

The RTR team has partnered with the most advanced performance racing shock manufacturer on the market – JRi Shocks. These state-of-the-art coilovers on all four corners allow the driver the adjustment to achieve the preferred balance for maximum track and street performance.
The Mothers RTR Spec 3 will have RTR’s brand-new Tactical Performance Watts-link, as well as RTR‘s Tactical Performance four-way adjustable sway bars; both of which feature Whiteline bushings for maximum performance and premium ride quality.

The RTR’s extremely lightweight carbon fiber front splitter, roof panel, rear diffuser, and unique fender blisters were built and designed for functionality and next-level aggressive looks.

Having their vehicles done in special hues of red is a tradition at Mothers and this build will be no exception. The BASF R-M Onyx two-stage Candy Carizzma waterborne paint is a custom “Mothers Red” formulated by Chris Guinn, and sprayed by Deshler’s in Orange, California. Mitch Kelly of Kelly & Son the Crazy Painters in Bellflower, California painted the graphics. Complementing the paint, the custom interior as designed by the RTR team was mastered by Stitchcraft Custom Interiors of Westminster, California, giving the Mustang a fresh and exciting look and feel for the driver.

The exclusive and unique-sounding RTR axle-back exhaust system dev

eloped in partnership with Magnaflow Performance Exhaust. It is coupled with American Racing long tube headers and X-pipe and is sure to flow the over 650 HP forced out by the Ford Racing supercharged 5.0-liter. Using this recipe, the Mother’s RTR Spec 3 will definitely create some incredible music at 7000 RPM.

Did we mention “the best in the business?” Then it should come as no surprise that RTR has teamed-up with the HRE Wheels to supply production wheels for all Spec 3 RTRs. The RTR Spec 3 will come standard-equipped with HRE 501 wheels for the street (19” by 9.5” front, 19” by 11.5” rear) and an optional set of HRE’s extremely strong and lightweight C101 wheels (18” by 11.5” all the way around) for high-grip apex-hugging track duty.

Among the standard features is the Reus Systems audio package featuring a stunning high-power multi-speaker system where the sound is “the closest thing you can come to having an iPod player wired directly to your brain,” according to Rick Reus. This is a production system that, in keeping with the performance level of the car, will rival any aftermarket system regardless of cost.

The team at Mothers Polish is excited to collaborate with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and RTR on the Mothers RTR Spec 3 project. “We discovered a few years back that we share the same driving passion for speed and performance, as Vaughn brought life to a simple wax commercial with his professional drifting skills,” says Jim Holloway of Mothers.

Over the past show season, Mothers campaigned a Mustang RTR on its big rig show circuit, and “we enjoyed displaying it as much as driving it on the Hot Rod Power Tour,” exclaimed Holloway. Those experiences spawned discussions with Vaughn, which led to the collaboration of the one-of-a-kind Mothers RTR Spec 3. “The bonus is taking the car to the 2014 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, with proceeds going to the Barrett-Jackson Cancer Research Fund at TGen. This project takes the excellent foundation that Ford provides in the Mustang to the next level of excitement with the standard RTR package. Then Team Mothers is taking it again to the highest level with the RTR Spec 3, and it supports a cause that has great meaning to our family as well as the Jacksons.”

While the Mothers Ford Mustang RTR Spec 3 will be “hard-parked” during SEMA, it will prove its street-ability and track prowess when the show is over by driving from SEMA and competing in the annual Optima Ultimate Streetcar invitational.

Following SEMA, the Mothers RTR Spec 3 will go on tour with the Mothers big rig for the remainder of the 2012 show season, as well as the entire 2013 show calendar until it goes across the Barrett-Jackson auction block for charity in January, 2014.
